جامع ومدرسة المظفر في مدينة تعز

تقع هذه المنشأة الدينية الهامة في منطقه ذي عدينه بمدينة تعز ، أنشأها السلطان الملك المظفر يوسف ، ويرجح بعض الباحثين انها أسست في النصف الأول من حكمه (648هـ/1250م) ، ثم جرت عليها بعد ذلك التعديلات والزيادات خلال العصور المتعاقبة ، فقد كانت هذه المنشأة منذ إقامتها وعلى مر العصور المتعاقبة ، فقد كانت هذه المنشأة منذ إقامتها وعلى مر العصور محور اهتمام الحكام ، لأنها تقوم بدور الجامع الكبير في المدينة ، كما أنها تعد من أقدم الامثله للمدارس المعلقه ، فظلا عن أنها تمثل النموذج الأول الذي انتهجته عمارة كثير من المدارس الرسولية بعد ذلك .

يتألف جامع ومدرسة المظفر حاليا من بيت للصلاة مساحته (39.60*15.18م) ، ويتكون من صدر وجناحين ، وتغطيه قبة كبيرة مقامة على عقود ، أما الجناحان الغربي والشرقي فتغطى كل منها عدد من القباب ، ويقع في جنوب بيت الصلاة فناء مكشوف تحيط به الأروقة ، وكانت المئذنة تشغل الزاوية الجنوبية الشرقية منه ، وعلى امتداد الصحن في الناحية الغربية توجد مجنبة بها بائكتان صغيرتان ذات سقف مسطح ، اما الجهة الشرقية فقد أزيلت معالمها القديمة ، ويقع فيها الحمامات (المطاهر).

تميزت هذه المنشأة بتكوين جمالي جذاب ، غذ تبدو بقبابها البيضاء المختلفة الارتفاع وكأنها تسبح في السماء تحيط بها خلفيات من ألوان داكنة من المرتفعات الصخرية ، كما أن معمار هذه المنشأة قد نجح في تحقيق التوازن بين الكتل والفراغات وميزها بحشد من الزخارف المبهرة سواء من الخارج او الداخل ، ولاسيما في بواطن القباب التي غطت بزخارف متنوعة ، فتبدو وكأنها لوحة جميلة متقنة تنم عن ذوق فني رفيع ، إذ تتكرر الوحدات في تردد سيمفوني متناغم ، عكس براعة وإتقان ،مما جعلها تمثل سجلا حافلا لعناصر الفن والعمارة الإسلامية خلال العصور المتعاقبة .

AI Muzafar Mosque and Madrasa in Taiz City

This building is an important religious structure located at Zi Odaina area in Taiz City, and was established by King AI Muzafar Youssef. Some researchers suggest that it was constructed during the first half of the king's reign 1250 A.D. and was the object of alterations and additions along successive eras.

The building retained a special status with the rulers of the region down the ages, as it served as the Grand Mosque of the city. It is also considered an old example of the partly hanging schools, and the first model of school architecture which was adopted later by other Rasulid schools.

The current AI Muzafar Mosque and Madrasa consist of a prayer place (39.60 x 15.18 meters), a front part and two side parts. The front part contains a square space in the middle of which is a mihrab that is covered with a big dome built on knots. The eastern and western sides are covered with a number of domes. South of the prayer place is an open courtyard surrounded by porticos. The minaret used to occupy the southeastern part of this courtyard. Across the nave to the west side, there is a flank with two small arches and a flat ceiling. However, the marks of the eastern side were obliterated, and are used now as lavatoties and ablution facilities.

The building is known for its surreal appearance of seeming to soar into the sky. Its characteristic structure and different domes are surrounded by rocky highlands in dark backgrounds. The architecture of this building maintains a balance between blocks and spaces, which is made it apparent with fabulous decorations both inside and outside. This can be especially seen in the interiors of domes which are covered with various inscriptions that give an overall effect of a tasteful and artistic painting. The harmonious symphony in which the various elements are repeated reflects the dexterity of artists who designed such a variety of decorations accurately, in order to make a record of Islamic art and architecture through the ages.
